Inispired by Debbie Brown and Carol Deacon many years ago Helene became passionate about making cakes. She would make them for friends, family and even local fundraisers.
In 2004 Helene and Peter took ownership of The Hobbit and decided to continue to run it as a cafe. Helene used her love of baking and offered homemade cakes and scones as part of the menu.
As the years went on the demand increased for her cakes! Helene would spend many days cooking in the busy cafe kitchen and spend the nights baking! She began to once again make birthday cakes, baby shower cakes, novelty cakes, christening cakes, hand-painted cakes and the occasional wedding cake.

In 2017 the time came to shut down the cafe and give everybody what they really wanted, and what Helene truly loved making... cake! The Hobbit Cake shop now stocks a variety of homemade yummy bakes and Helene continues to take orders for her amazing cakes.

As well as creating some fantastic novelty masterpieces, Helene uses her love of drawing and painting to create fabulous bespoke hand-painted cakes (these are done in food colouring on fondant icing) they truly are one of a kind!
